Lajuma is an exclusive privately owned
guest farm in the unspoilt and little known mist belt of the western
Soutpansberg region.
Lajuma is situated 25 km east of Vivo and 45km west of Makhado
(formerly Louis Trichardt) high up in the Soutpansberg mountain
range. The highest peak of the Soutpansberg is situated on the
reserve.
Lajuma has a surface area of 430 hectares. It forms part of the
Thavha Ya Muno Private Nature Reserve (about 5000 ha) and of the
Soutpansberg Conservancy.
Topography is rugged with deep valleys and high cliffs. Clear
mountain streams and beautiful waterfalls characterize the reserve.
The far Limpopo province is often perceived as arid savanna and
bushveld. The Soutpansberg mistbelt however has a totally unique
composition of plants and animals. Flora environments on Lajuma is
highly diverse and includes the following; Savanna Bushveld
Indigenous forests with ancient Yellowwood trees and very sensitive
wetlands.
"Soutpansberg fynbos", similar to that found in the Western Cape.
Fauna is found naturally in the area and can be regularly seen.
Some unique species are, the endangered Samango Monkey, Sharpe's
Grysbok and the exclusive leopard.

Rooms
Waterfall Lodge
The waterfall lodge consists of two thatched chalets and large
enclosed lapa with fireplace situated in a secluded valley
overlooking a waterfall. It provides peace and tranquility for real
nature lovers who want to be on their own.
Not suitable for small children. Access down a long staircase also
makes it unsuitable to visitors with walking disabilities.
Forest Chalet
The forest chalet nestles against a forest and has a stunning view.
It is built in period style with fireplace. Can accommodate two.
Suitable for small children
Wilderness Camp
Situated on a high cliff overlooking a forested valley and rolling
mountains.
Five separate units can accommodate up to 30 people. Has a large
lapa with conference or lecture facilities.
You'll receive bedding, towels, all cutlery, braai facilities,
lighting and wood for a fire.
All units have a fridge and a gas stove.
You must bring a torch and hard wood for a braai if required.

How to get there
From Johannesburg / Pretoria travel via the N1 to Polokwane and then
to Makhado (Louis Trichardt).
Take the R522 for 46km towards Vivo, where you'll find the turn-off
to Lajuma.
Please note that the last 7 km is accessible only by bakkie (a
pick-up) or a 4x4 vehicle.
However, there is safe parking for cars and transport up the
mountain will be provided by prior arrangement - and a small fee.
