Description:
The Mountain
Country House is situated on one of the prime sites in the
environs of Johannesburg and Pretoria on a hill overlooking a valley
with a spectacular view of the Magaliesburg mountains. It is hard to
believe that only 40 minutes drive from either Johannesburg or
Pretoria one finds a place of such peace and tranquillity surrounded
by unspoilt indigenous bush. One is struck by the silence, no
traffic noise, only the occasional bark of a baboon or the call of a
jackal at night.
The unique architecture of the main house, studio and gallery
surrounding a central courtyard was designed and built by the late
sculptor Michael Fleischer and has been featured in several
architectural magazines. The family members running the guest house
are artists and their works are exhibited in the gallery attached to
the house. The Mountain Country House is situated 40 minutes north
of Monte Casino near the Hartbeespoort Dam, close to Lanseria
Airport and on the way to Sun City and the excellent Pilansberg Game
Reserve.
Accommodation:
Studio
The studio unit, so called because it has been converted from an
artist’s studio, has a very special atmosphere. Enjoy the king size
4-poster bed made up with pure cotton sheets. Take a bath in the
fabulous bathroom with the double doors wide open looking onto a
completely private kopje. Lounge on the deck and enjoy the great
views of unspoilt country. The unit is self catering, has a fully
equipped open plan kitchen and is completely secluded and private.
Cottage
The self-catering cottage (which does have electricity) in the
courtyard, detached from the main house and completely private has a
4-poster double bed and sleeps 2 people. A sitting room, with fully
equipped kitchen and wood burning stove for our cold winter highveld
nights, opens onto a private patio with a magnificent view.
Bed & Breakfast Suite
The Bed & Breakfast Suite is in the main house and has a magnificent
view over the valley and mountains.
