The Protea Hotel Shangri-La is situated in the Waterberg Region of the Limpopo Province between the towns of Bela Bela and Modimolle.

Only 1 hour’s drive from Gauteng, situated close to both Modimolle (Nylstroom) and Bela Bela (Warmbaths) and en-route to the riches of Southern Africa and the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (Kruger National Park), the hotel is in a malaria free area.

High quality conference facilities are available, comfortably accommodating from the intimate meeting for two to the corporate conference for 100 delegates. ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation at the soothing tranquillity of The Protea Hotel Shangri-La consists of 42 rooms, all with an en-suite bathroom. Our luxury rooms and rondavels are surrounded by the lush tropical gardens we have been associated with for many years and indeed have become quite famous for. A peaceful environment awaits all who enters the “Place of Eternal Youth”.

All of our rooms are within walking distance of the romantic Chapel, our sparkling swimming pool, fully equipped conference centres and other hotel facilities.

Be pampered and spoilt in our Presidential Suite with its spacious main bedroom filled with antique masterpieces. The suite also features a private courtyard surrounded by towering trees, a private dining room with a mini bar, which can be stocked on request with all the beverages your heart can desire. A large bathroom with separate show completes the picture.

You have the option of Twin, Double or King size beds, as well as Non-smoking rooms, all characterise by 100% pure cotton percale linen. Most of our rooms are individually decorated with antique furniture which embodies a bygone era. For a family holiday we offer 4 family units that can accommodate either 3 or 4 people, these are in high demand though so advance bookings would be essential.

The newest addition to the Protea Hotel Shangri-La’s repertoire is five rooms build around the picturesque Pickwick Square, two of which feature Kitchenettes.

Directions to The Protea Hotel Shangri-La:
From Pretoria:
Follow the N1 towards Polokwane (Pietersburg). Take the Modimolle (Nylstroom) off ramp at the Kranskop
Tollgate, turn left at the T-junction and follow the road towards Modimolle (Nylstroom). Turn left at Eersbewoon
and continue for approximately 3km until you find gate on your right. Turn right here and continue on gravel road
for 3 km until you reach The Protea Hotel Shangri-La.

From Polokwane (Pietersburg):
Follow the N1 south towards Pretoria, pass Mokopane (Potgietersrus), Mookgophong (Naboomspruit) and take
the Modimolle (Nylstroom) off ramp. Continue on this road until you reach the first 4 way traffic light
intersection. Turn left into Nelson Mandela Drive and continue until you have left the CBD. Travel on for
approximately 8km until you find the Eersbewoon Road on your right. Turn right at Eersbewoon and continue for
approximately 3km until you find gate on your right. Turn right here and continue on gravel road for 3 km until
you reach The Protea Hotel Shangri-La.
