The venue, as it stands to day, was renovated from 4 individual properties in the village.

Fractionally over 2 hours drive from Johannesburg (depending on how naughty you are) it offers the ideal getaway... for businesses, for families, for fun or simple relaxation.

Red Mountain Country House provides bed and breakfast. Evening meals can be arranged and self catering is also an option.

In addition to normal B&B rates it is also possible for groups to book out the entire venue. Where else could you book a venue that sleeps up to 24 people and have it all to yourself at the highly competitive rates we offer.

Rooiberg – The Village

Situated between Bela Bela (Warmbaths) and Thabazimbi in the Limpopo Province (formerly the North West Province) Rooiberg was once the residence of employees of the Rooiberg Tin Mining Company. When the mine closed in the early 1990’s the town became deserted and was well on its way to becoming a ghost town.

Fortunately a consortium bought it and started selling the mine houses to private buyers. The mine single quarters have been converted into a retirement village, the mine offices are now a school and the mine recreation centre is small hotel with facilities that are still available to the village (i.e. swimming pool, tennis court, squash court and miniaturegolf).

In spite of the gentrification taking place you’ll still see the occasional donkey cart being driven around the town. And if you listen carefully you may hear the roar of lions and the cry of jackals early in the morning or at night.

Getting to Rooiberg

You can get to Rooiberg in two ways...

• Take the NI (north) to Polokwane. Exit at the second turnoff (R516) to Bela Bela, formerly known as Warmbaths. Go straight through Warmbaths on the R516 and travel for +- 60 kilometres to the second turn on the right to Rooiberg. (Ignore the first sign you see for Rooiberg as this takes you up a dirt road which is not recommended.) Once you have turned off the R516 it is +- 20 kilometres to Rooiberg.
• Go though Hartbeespoort to Brits. Once through Brits travel for +- 1 hour on the R511 until you find the right turn (R516) to Bela Bela. Travel along this road for 20 kilometres then turn left at the first sign you see for Rooiberg.) Once you have turned off the R516 it is +- 20 kilometres to Rooiberg.
