and lawns, each of the three cozy stone and thatch cottages offers
privacy and charm.
The property is fully fenced and secure and each cottage has its own
car port area and outside braai facilities. The central lodge has a
comfortable TV lounge for guests, and an attractive function room,
suitable for weddings, parties and other events, accommodating up to
100 people.
The Cottages
The three stone and thatch cottages each have their own colour
scheme and special name in keeping with the Boscobel Oak history and
theme: The Royal Cottage (red), The Crown Cottage (blue) and The
Acorn Cottage (green). Meticulously appointed and furnished for your
maximum comfort, lovely wood burning fireplaces are a special
feature. The cottages consist of a ground floor main bedroom,
bathroom and kitchen area, leading out to a braai patio. The
upstairs loft area has two single beds for family stays. The kitchen
is equipped with all cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils, a 2
plate stove, microwave and fridge. Ample freezer space is available
in the main lodge. Basic breakfast ingredients are provided for
guests to make their own morning meal. By arrangement full
breakfasts are offered in the lodge.
Activities
Whilst some people will want to enjoy maximum time in the comfort
and privacy of their cottage accommodation, the surrounding area
will beckon them to the enjoyment of nature and the outdoors. There
are many dams and rivers in the vicinity where trout fishing is a
big reason to explore. Permits are arranged by the owners on request
when you book.
Magoebaskloof is famous for its variety of bird life, and walks on
the property and nearby will thrill any novice or experienced
birder, who may encounter the rare bat hawk, or the elusive Narina
Trogon, … and many more. A professional bird guide can be booked in
advance for personally guided bird walks.
For the really energetic, bring your mountain bike, and explore the
many byways of the area which abounds in forests, water and stunning
scenery. A comprehensive map of the property and surrounding
countryside, including suggested routes is available at the
Cottages.
The opportunities to just walk at your own pace and enjoy nature,
are endless, and a marked trail on the property points out features
of interest and delight.
In the greater area, other opportunities for walks and hikes are
many – from grassland to indigenous forest walks.
The area is renowned for clean air, summer mists, and frosty
winters. Always bring something warm to wear in all seasons. We
welcome guests with dogs!
