Description:
The
Pavetta Country House is in
a beautiful tranquil setting where you can experience
total relaxation. The house is scenically placed next to
the Haenertsburg Trout Association’s trophy dam with
great views over the dam and the wood bush indigenous
forest. There is a deck area with braai facilities
overlooking the dam. Fly fishing is permitted with
barbless flies. Fishing is on a catch and release basis
only. A row boat is available for our guests use.
Accommodation:
Pavetta Country House is fully equipped for
self catering, fitted with
linen and towels and will be
serviced daily; just bring your food, drinks and
tolletries. Enough fire wood for the fireplaces is
provided as well as charcoal for the braai.
The house can accommodate 8 to 10
people easily. There are 3 bedrooms and 3
bathrooms. The main bedroom is en suite and sleeps 4
people; usually for a couple and two children. There is
a nook next to the lounge with two beds. Guests sleeping
here use the guest bathroom with a shower. The other two
bedrooms are down stairs, on the other side of the house
and share a bathroom.
It is ideal for use by older children, accompanying
friends or another family. A DSTV decoder is available-
please bring your own card. No smoking is permitted in
the house.
Access to the farm is mainly via a cement road, making
it very accessible when it is wet in Magoebaskloof.
Activities and Attractions:
The wood bush forest is the second largest
indigenous forest in South
Africa. There are numerous hiking trails in the area.
Visit the local cheese farm and see how they make cheese
and go for a walk through the small mountain village,
Haenertsburg and browse the small shops - the local Kiwi
preservatives is a must.
Enjoy tea at the Magoebaskloof Hotel or Pekoe View with
their spectacular views. Have a picnic at the
Debegeni waterfalls. There
is an abundance of birdlife in the indigenous forest of
Magoebaskloof. Guided birding and fly fishing trips
around the area can be booked at the local tourist
office in Haenertsburg.
Horse riding, kloofing / canyoneering, rock climbing or
abseiling can be arranged through local guides. There
are also lovely guided 4x4 trails in the Wolkberg
Mountains, where one can visit awesome waterfalls, large
caves and have beautiful vistas.
What to
do if it rains?
• Lie in front of the fireplace and enjoy the ambiance!
• Play games or read a book.
• Drive down the mountain to the Big Boabab Tree and
Modjadji Cycad Forest.
• Visit the Agatha Crocodile Farm or have tea and nougat
at the Coach House!
• The Kruger Park is only 90 minutes from here!
• Just enjoy the company of your family and friends!
