Baleni Camp nestles in a remote and tranquil mopane forest, adjacent to the Baleni mineral hot spring on the banks of the Klein Letaba River at Sautini, " place of salt ".

Regarded as a super-natural place by the Tsonga, Baleni is a place of many myths and legends, where an ancient practise of salt extraction from the mineral rich water from the fountain is still practised, with all the traditional rituals, by the local Shangaan women.

Accommodation is available in five traditional huts.

Observe the centuries old salt making process and listen to the myths and legends from the local guide around the camp fire in the evening.
Visit one of the nearby villages and learn more about the Shangaan culture, and experience the day-to-day life style of a traditional rural African family.

Blouberg Camp a secluded niche surrounded by foothills of the mountain Blouberg camp offers colourful decorated traditional huts with en-suite facilities for ten guests and opportunities for day excursions to various natural and cultural attractions in the area, or a 2-day excursion up the mountain.

Of particular interest is a large expanse of indigenous yellow-wood trees. The area is also home to one of the largest colonies of Cape vultures in South Africa.

Activities
Birding. Take a guided hike to the top of the mountain and visit one of the most secluded communities of modern times for a unique cultural experience, with fascinating scenery. Alternatively, go on a guided cultural tour of villages around the foot of the mountain, or drive around to Blouberg Nature Reserve and visit the vulture restuarant. Take a hike to the yellow wood forest.

In the Area
The sandy Makgabeng plateau south of the Blouberg, dominated by impressive steep-sided sandstone spikes, breaks into a rugged rocky wilderness towards the south and is a treasure house of rock art, left by Khoisan and others who once inhabited the area.

Besides the vultures, game, including buffalo, can be seen in the 9000ha Blouberg Nature Reserve on the eastern end of the mountain, whilst Maleboho Nature Reserve north-west of the mountain provides sanctuary to most of the game species that naturally occurred in the area.

Mafefe Camp on a high plateau in the Northern Drakensberg can only be reached with an off-road vehicle and provides plenty of opportunities to test the skill of both vehicles and drivers.

The rugged mountainous terrain of this remote area, with its opportunities for hiking trails, will appeal to the more adventurous.

The Olifants River Gorge and Lekgalameetse Nature Reserve and Wolkberg Wilderness area boast stunning scenery. Colourfully decorated ethnic huts provide accommodation.

Modjadji Camp near Duiwelskloof is situated inside the Modjadji Nature Reserve - within the domain of the mystical Rain Queen, hereditary ruler of the Lobedu people.

A hiking trail amongst 800-year-old and up to 6m in height cycads to the cycad interpretation centre is particularly rewarding for those with a botanic bent. Traditional huts offer accommodation.

Activities
Visit the Royal Kraal of Queen Modjadji. Follow the hiking trails inside the cycad reserve, which also provides excellent birding.  A guided tour includes a choice of local artists, a traditional healer, traditional beer brewing, traditional games with the locals and Lebjeng archaelogical site.

Enjoy a day trip to Tzaneen and Magoebaskloof with its lush subtropical fruit farming industy, Sapeko tea estates, waterfalls and many curio- and craft shops on offer. Order a drink from the pub inside a huge Baobab tree.

Mtomeni Camp is situated in the Letaba Ranch Game Reserve bordering the Kruger National Park, just north of Phalaborwa. Five safari tents offer accommodation.

Situated on the banks of the Great Letaba River, with hippos and crocodiles watching the activities in camp, this 42 000 ha wildlife haven offers the visitor a true African experience which includes the Big Five.

Activities
Guided game walks on the banks of the Letaba in the early hours of the morning provide plenty of exciting moments tracing the spoor of the dangerous Big Five. A lazy mid-day relaxation with some reading, and good birding from your private verandah. An afternoon game drive looking for the ever-present elephant and buffalo is recommended. Game drives can be undertaken by visitors using their own vehicles. A guide from camp is available.

Mutale Falls Camp overlooks the Mutale River in the north of Makuya Park Game Reserve, which shares an open boundary with the Kruger National Park from Pafuri Gate in the North and along the Levubu River as far south as Punda Maria Gate.

The falls and potholes, close to the camp, offer scenic surroundings for short walks in Big Five territory. Exciting 4X4 routes providing spectacular views over river, mountains and baobab studded plains is a feature of this wild and wonderful area with it's distinct wilderness character.

Activities
Mutale Falls or Mavhelani ("boiling pot") potholes is a leisurely 15-20 minutes walk from camp, while longer guided hiking excursions in search of the Big Five can be undertaken. Well stabilised 4x4 trails offer a days worth of enjoyable site seeing and game viewing in truly rugged terrain.  Birding in and around camp is excellent.

In the area
The Big Tree - the biggest Boabab in the world - over 2 000 years old. Enter the Kruger National Park at Pafuri gate for a visit to "Crook's Corner", Pafuri River drive and Thulamela archaeological site dating back to around 1600 AD.

Ndzhaka Camp in the Manyeleti Game Reserve bordering the Kruger National Park at Orpen Gate and Sabi Sands Game Reserve, is a prime Big Five destination.

Activities
Game drives in open vehicles around the reserve ensure good game viewing, but it is out on foot under the watchful eyes of trained guides that the adrenaline starts to rush. Night drives expose the nocturnal activities of the bush as interpreted and explained by the guides.

Ntubu Camp in the Masebe Reserve offers some of the most dramatic sandstone formations along the Waterberg Escarpment.
