Accommodation

Situated on the main R531 route from Lydenburg to Hoedspruit, Zuleika can be found easily without any detours, and Hoedspruit's Eastgate Airport with daily connections to both Johannesburg and Capetown, is only 20 km away (transfers by arrangement).
Zuleika's thatched buildings are discreetly tucked away between citrus and mango estates enhancing privacy and peacefulness.
There are opportunities to inspect and taste the local lemons, sensationally fibreless mango, litchis, papayas and guavas (when in season).
The complex is surrounded by a fascinating selection of indigenous bird-inhabited trees and bushes and a carefully balanced garden.
There are five double rooms and two self-catering units on the premises. In the main building there is an exhibition hall displaying local art, as well as a curio/craft shop. The atmospheric bar opens out onto the terrace.
The seven spacious, air-conditioned guestrooms, which are both private and comfortable, conjure up the latest word in contemporary organic design.
All have en suite bathrooms, satellite TV, large kingsize beds, lofty ceilings with big fans and wooden stable doors opening onto the garden / and/or canyon views.
There are two separate units ideally suited for families with children.

Facilities

Zuleika's sweeping terrace offers a uniquely romantic lookout onto the dramatic canyon cliffs of the Drakensberg.
Zuleika is available for weddings, small functions and parties.

During happy hour, please come and enjoy one of our bartender's uncanny canyon cocktails, or soothing sundowners, and marvel at the splendid terrace views as the setting sun starts repainting the canyon cliff walls.

The huge elevated pool by the baobab trees with exciting views toward the canyon invites the visitor to a refreshing dip, and there are great tanning opportunities on the reclining chairs alongside. And how about preparing, roasting and consuming your own favourite bbq meal in the secluded lapa !

A whole range of outdoor activities are available to the visitor. There's the fish pond behind the garden with carp, bass and yellowfish.

For bird watching enthusiasts: the fish eagle and various colourful louries and humorous hornbills find their habitat in the shrubs and trees on the Blyde riverbanks.

The reserve boasts over 200 bird species no less ! A path takes you to the river in only 7 minutes on foot. The Blyde features several relay teams of hippo and some brooding bashful crocs.
