ACCOMMODATION
With 12 upmarket chalets positioned in the pristine
bushveld, privacy and relaxation are guaranteed. The
restaurant and bar has two lookout decks providing
unparalleled views of the bush. Mouth-watering dishes
are served by the resident gourmet chef. In addition,
there is a large heated swimming pool, a resident game
ranger offering guests both game drives and walks,
babysitting services, ADSL/Internet access, air charter
flights, airport transfers and disabled facilities.
Garden Chalets
Situated on beautiful lawns and surrounded by acacia
trees are the 3 Garden Chalets. Each Garden Chalet
sleeps 2 and has an open-plan sleeping/living area with
an en-suite bathroom. A fully equipped, open-plan
kitchen on the verandah and the garden barbeque area are
ideal for those wanting to experience an authentic
outdoor African meal in bushveld surroundings.
Bush Chalets
The 3 Bush Chalets are hidden in the lush African bush.
Bushbuck and impala are often seen grazing amongst these
chalets early in the morning. The chalets are situated
within close proximity to the swimming pool and
restaurant. Each Bush Chalet sleeps 2 and has an
open-plan sleeping/living area with en-suite bathroom
and fully equipped kitchen.
King's and Queen's Chalets
Set against the Kololo mountains, these are the most
luxurious of our lodges. Enjoy splendid, uninterrupted
views over the African plains of Welgevonden Game
Reserve and spot roaming elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo
and other wildlife. Beautifully furnished, both chalets
have large living areas with television, open plan fully
equipped kitchens, terraces and barbeque facilities.
King's Chalet has a private swimming pool and boma and
has 3 double en-suite bedrooms. Smaller in size, Queen's
Chalet has 1 double en-suite bedroom and a sleeper couch
in the living area.
Leopard's Den Chalet
Overlooking rolling green lawns and the Kololo
Mountains, Our completely renovated and newly furbished
Leopard's Den is a thatched, family chalet with a large
wrap-around wooden deck and a private swimming pool.
Tastefully decorated, boasts a boma and barbeque
facilities and a large comfortable living area with a
fireplace. Sleeping 8, the chalet has 3 double bedrooms
and 1 twin bedroom. This chalet is only available on
Full Board basis.
Oom Piet's Chalet
Oom Piet's Chalet is the original restored farm house,
built in 1916. Sleeping 4, it has 2 spacious bedrooms,
comprising of 1 double and 1 twin room. Relax with a
book or spot game from the large veranda, overlooking
rolling green lawns, which lead down to the river and
swimming pool. Resident antelope can be found peacefully
grazing in front of the veranda, seemingly oblivious to
guests seated there. Tastefully decorated, Oom Piet's
Chalet has its own fully equipped kitchen and living
room.
River Chalets
Situated within close proximity to the swimming pool and
restaurant, and overlooking the Kololo river and
mountains are two luxury thatched lodges. Positioned to
create a secluded ambience, these private chalets are
ideal for honeymoon couples. Each River Chalet sleeps 2
and has an open-plan sleeping/living area with an
en-suite bathroom and fully equipped kitchen.
CONFERENCES & WEDDINGS:
Kololo's superb restaurant facility is ideal for the
smaller break away conference groups of up to 40. Kololo
is the ideal venue for an authentic African Safari
themed wedding or special event. Our restaurant is
available for wedding receptions and can accommodate up
to 90 guests seated in the restaurant and on the
look-out decks. Full catering and bar service available.
THE GAME
RESERVE
Kololo Game Reserve is home to a wide variety of both
large and small antelope species, giraffe, zebra,
monkeys, baboons, bushpig and warthog. Over 300
different bird species are indigenous to the area making
this a birders paradise. Indigenous shrubs and trees
abound and form an integral part of the food source for
the animal species living in the area. 84 different
species of trees are listed and many of these are
identified along the walking and cycling routes of
Kololo. Wild flowers and grasses cover the bushveld and
over 500 species of plants have been recorded in the
Waterberg plateau providing a colourful canvas for
mother nature.
ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONS
Kololo is fairly centrally placed in the Waterberg area,
allowing visitors to explore a wide range of attractions
on either day trips or short excursions. These include
many options for Big 5 game viewing, horse and elephant
back safari's, visits to the cheetah research project,
the rhino museum, and trips to Sun City, and excellent
golfing options at both the Gary Player course at Sun
City and the Peter Matkovich golf courses at Elements.
SOCIAL
INVESTMENT
Dutch born owners of Kololo Game Reserve, Ton and Yvonne
Jansen, are very committed to the upliftment and
development of both the people that are employed by them
and the area that surrounds them. They have several
social investment projects in the Vaalwater area that
they support and these include education for
underprivileged children and financial support and care
for the local hospice that treat HIV / AIDS children.
